We started in the town of Riquewihr, and you enter into a townscape of winding roads and fabled houses.
Since we arrived in the early morning, we stopped for breakfast, and we found some wonderful buttery croissants, just out of the oven and they practically melt in your mouth.
I love the storefronts, they remind me of all the classic children's book, yeah?
You find so much character around every corner
The rolling plains and hilltop castles above the town make me ready to explore, let's get to walking!
Blossoms of popcorn popping!
Miles and miles of grapes...makes for a pretty walk
50% of the grapes are for Riesling wine, and the other half is for a Gewurztraminer wine; I'm sure they taste delicious, too bad it's so early in the season and none of the grapes are ready to eat!
I spy town number 2: Hunawihr and their famous fortified church!
The town is pretty tiny, not too much to see, but still a beautiful walk
...and we march onwards to the third town
Jordan showing me how to blow the dandelions, "watch and learn Morg, watch and learn"
Ribeauville, was just as quaint as the other towns, with a fortified wall and window dressings of more nursery rhymes.
Adorable

From here we headed 3 miles back, and when we got back to Riquewihr of course we had to reward ourselves with french macaroons from Gilg, which we have come to the conclusion have been the best macaroons in France that we have yet to have. After eating them we decided, we could probably eat a few more...
The Alsatian Wine Route makes for a great 1/2 day of exercise and sight seeing, check it out!
Dandelions, guys, dandelions, not tumbleweeds.
ReplyDeleteYou know me....I am always ready for a walk and a treat! Xo
ReplyDeleteI am heading here in July. Was the hike easy to do? You went to riquewihr to ribeauville in a half of a day?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Hi Cheeseman,
DeleteBeautiful time to go! The hike was very easy, it's all paved which made it easy and the scenery is beautiful too. We did it in half a day, but if you stop at wineries I would give yourself more time. There is also a bus that goes through the towns. If you have any other questions let us know! Happy travels :)
