Hallstatt, Austria

If you ever find yourself double tapping on an Instagram picture to like a landscape photograph chances are it may be Hallstatt.  Pastel-colored houses reflected on glassy waters of the lake, and towering mountains on all sides make Hallstatt's beauty enough to guarantee its fame.  So we made our Instagram bucket list come true with this one, and paid a visit to Hallstatt. 

We enjoyed walking around the town, but you really need to get there early otherwise you're going to be smothered by tourists.  The cute little town is about a street long, and along the walk there are signs you can read about this history of Hallstatt.

In the center of the street is Market Square, surrounded by brightly painted buildings with shops, restaurants, and cafes.  In the summer there are cultural events and concerts happening in the square, and it's a great place for a photo op!

 Could I be any more pregnant?!? Yeah I guess three more months to go...

Jordan and I can't decide which we prefer, lakes or oceans, but what I do know is that once you set sail on the lake here in you can't stop marveling at the beauty all around.  

 Seriously so gorgeous I just want to dive into the water!

We rented a little electric boat from a family who lives lakeside for about 20 euro an hour and we enjoyed a ride around the lake.  Jordan was my captain

Hallstatt is really postcard perfect.  

After exploring Hallstatt we were ready for lunch and we enjoyed great schnitzel and chicken cordon bleu at Seegwirt right outside of town in Bad Goisern.  It was a refreshing change from the hordes of tourists in Hallstatt and we much prefer to be surrounded by the locals.  Great service and side salads too!
